Market Proceeds

Fishermans Road Markets has been operated and managed for the past 21 years by the Lions Club of Mooloolaba. Lions members volunteer willingly giving their time for no monetary return, consequently net profits raised from the Markets are allocated to Lions Club Projects or Local Community Organisations.

By shopping at the Fishermans Road Markets (also known as the Maroochy Sunday Markets) you are helping with the ongoing viability of the stallholders therefore ultimately you are also supporting the many Community Projects.

In addition to the Lions Club of Mooloolaba raising funds for the Community, other Community groups assist and benefit financially. Local Scouts operate a Sausage Sizzle, Men’s Shed and Buderim Scouts assist entry to markets of stallholders, cleaning the grounds each Sunday after the Markets, and Buderim Scouts and North Shore Lions Club share managing the car parking.

Last year Caroline Goodwin embarked on a trekking expedition through the Larapinta Trail in support of the Smith Family. The Larapinta Trail stretches almost 230km from Alice Springs through the West Mac Donenell Ranges and has 12 sections completing this over 5 days a total of 70kms. Lions were happy to support this challenge giving to the Smith Family.

Trainees at Compass

A parent contacted us to help with her child who has a disability and couldn’t access any services due to his rare condition – sensitivity to temperature.  Lions were happy to support the installation of two air conditioners to make the learning/working environment more inclusive and accessible.  We are happy to make a difference for this young person and others for lifelong learning and personal growth to be productive in the community.

Compass offers a progressive day program for young people with disabilities offering lifelong learning, skills based training and vocational opportunities.  Lions was impressed with the history of Compass’s caring and productive environment which builds self-esteem and skills.  It also assists young people set goals and empower them to achieve vocational outcomes.  The philosophy behind this program was based on David Dangerfield belief of family and to treat each trainee as his own child.
